What do you wish to be remembered for? Those who are remembered for good things done while they were in this world are people whose lives truly counted for God. God wants our lives to count for Him and that is His reason for saving us (Isa. 43:21). It is clearly stated in the Bible that although we are not saved by good works, we are saved in order to do good works (Eph. 2:8-10; Matt. 5:13-16; Tit. 3:1, 8, 14; cp. 1 Cor. 10:31). One Bible character whose life counted for God is a woman named Tabitha. From the record of her life, we have the following to learn about a life that will count for God.

French philosopher Voltaire and American President John Adams are famous for their criticisms of Christianity because they thought it was a “bloody religion,” with all its wars, its frequent mention of blood, and the bloody death of its founder, Jesus Christ. What is it about blood, which we normally think of as grotesque, that has caused Christians in every generation to actually celebrate it?  Here is just a sampling of the hymns and songs that have been written throughout the ages about the blood of Christ: Nothing but the Blood; Are You Washed in the Blood? Oh, the Blood of Jesus; and Power in the Blood

Test or examination is a process or exercise designed to determine the quality or ability of a person or thing. Human beings are used to various forms of tests or examinations. They go for various tests such as medical, pregnancy, paternity, academic and so on. They even conduct tests for their vehicles. Unfortunately, the most important test- self-test or self-examination is often neglected and disregarded.

God never lacks the resources to accomplish His purpose and bring to pass whatever He has foretold or promised to do. This is clearly seen in the story of the Triumphal Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. This event was prophesied by Prophet Zechariah about 500 years before it took place (Zechariah 9:9). This prophesy specifically mentioned the means by which Jesus would enter into Jerusalem to begin His journey to the Cross for man’s redemption.

The third threat to our freedom are teachings that emphasize legalism (Col. 2:20–23). In the next warning that Paul gave us, he essentially calls believers to beware of legalism. Legalism is an emphasis on man–made laws or commands not given by God in Scripture or through God in our personal relationship with him.

The Second threat that Paul warned the Colossian Christians about are teachings that emphasize the authority of spiritual experiences. Paul tells them to be careful with people who delight in false humility and the worship of angels. It seems that these false teachers were going into great detail about their experiences with angels or spirits. These teachers were claiming their authority from these visions or experiences with angels. They were following angels and not the Head, Christ.

In Col. 2:16-23, Paul mentions three threats that we must be aware of if we are going to keep our freedom in Christ. They are, namely, the teachings that emphasize submission to Old Testament Law; the teachings that emphasize the authority of spiritual experiences; and the teachings that emphasize legalism.
